Contactless, precise AC/DC Current Monitoring
Vutlan offers contactless, precise open-loop AC-current and DC-current sensors. They measure AC and DC currents and provide electrical isolation between the circuit being measured and the output of the sensor (the primary current is measured without electrical contact with the primary circuit, providing galvanic isolation). Vutlan transducers and meters provide analog output signals (0 - 5 V) compatible with most PLCs, data loggers, and SCADA systems. This provides a solution to knowing how much AC current is flowing through a wire without any physical intervention. In some cases during a system debug, determining whether or not an AC current is flowing through the wire is required. Used for:
- Indicate overcurrent alarm conditions
- Determine the load characteristics by monitoring the sourced current
- Indicate alarm conditions when no current is flowing through the monitored wire
- Monitor a phase of power for debugging, data logging or both
- Additionally for DC current indicate the direction of the current
AC Current Monitoring
100A transducer is used for the measurement of AC current. The system interface allows you to assign a transducer and to introduce the function data conversion. VT407 / HAT transceiver can be used together with HAT-100Q1 to convert data into the format of the Vutlan monitoring system. The transducer consists of a plastic housing with an open/closed AC current loop and 4 pins terminal connector. The current transceiver is a simple plastic case with 4 pins input, power 12V socket, and analog 0-5V RJ12 output. Example: Measuring current in AC power circuit
Sensor for measuring current in 230V and 110V installations using Vutlan open-loop contactless hall sensor and a converter enables you to create an early warning system against overloading the electricity supply or individual lines.
Example: Life prediction of equipment
As the electric elements age in the equipment, its resistance also changes. By measuring the current drawn by the element using Vutlan current transducer the resistance of the element can be determined and compared against a known aging characteristic. When the element reaches a predetermined state it can be replaced before failure.
Example: Turn off equipment before it overloads
Set up logic using the Vutlan monitoring system to turn on the equipment on schedule using relays. Create a logic rule to turn off the equipment in case the feeding current reaches an alarm point before the equipment overloads.
DC Current Monitoring
The transducer is used together with the HOS-100Q1 DC Hall current transducer for sensing current and converting data into the format of the IP monitoring system. HOS-100Q1 can sense in which direction the current is flowing, this is an ideal solution for monitoring UPS and Battery charging and life prediction.
